What is Digital Citizenship?
"Digital Citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology use" (Ribble, 2015).
Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool. It is a way to prepare students and technology users like you, on knowing what is appropriate and acceptable technology use.
Are You a Digital Citizen?
A digital citizen is anyone who uses the internet or some form of technology to research or gather information and to communicate with others. Do you use social media? Using social media sites like, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to chat, upload content, view or comment makes you a digital citizen.

Why is it Important?
Technology in the classroom is becoming more common and helping students prepare for the digital future. Textbooks, which were the main source for learning, are now being replaced with digital devices like tablets and laptops. Before using technology in schools, it is important to understand that students must know there are rules to follow or there will be consequences.
Today's technology allows students to easily access and use it almost anywhere. Students should be aware of the nine elements of Digital Citizenship which are Digital Access, Digital Commerce, Digital Communication, Digital Literacy, Digital Etiquette, Digital Law, Digital Rights and Responsibilities, Digital Health and Wellness, and Digital Security.
